Notes:
1. [January 1887/1888]
This is a response to a letter from Ingram querying JW's writing in an earlier letter, and is dated from references to an proposed exhibition of JW's work at the Society of British Artists (#11315) .
2. William Ayerst Ingram
William Ayerst Ingram (1855-1913), marine and landscape painter [more]. This letter was reconstructed by Ingram from memory. JW had used similar words in another letter to Ingram, #11315.
3. TLc
Ingram noted at the end of the document: 'I have lost the original, but read it only a few months ago and am pretty sure of the characteristic reply'.
