Dear Sir -
Very many thanks for so kindly answering - also for sending picture - (Studio) -
The Westminster has come too - There is however no mention of me in the "interview" with Sir George Reid - so that I wonder what the P.M.G. means - and I do wish you could get me the genuine Interview in question - They ought to tell you at the Pall Mall office, what then they do mean - and then you might send it on -
This time I enclose the paragraph from Pall Mall [p. 2] - so that's all right -
Just received the series of cuttings from Westminster Gazette - very nice of you. Delightful! W. B. Richmond amazing! -
Also letter to say "Studio" started -
Will write again soon
J McN Whistler
1. [c. 20 March 1893]
The dating of this letter is difficult. The document was dated '21 March 1893' by the recipient in a note written at the top of p. 1. However, JW's day of writing the second half of the letter, 'Thursday', points to the date of 23 March 1893 (and the previous day, Wednesday, 22 March). It is possible even that JW wrote 'Thursday' when he actually meant 'Tuesday' (21 March). As this letter almost certainly follows #08221, dated '[18 March 1893]', in this transcription the letter has been dated '[c. 20 March 1893]'.
'9A' is written in an unknown hand in red ink at top left, and '55' in pencil at bottom right of p. 1.
Pall Mall Gazette.
