[illegible], -
My conduct, I know my dear Smalley, has no name! - but what will you I have been again in the depths of the Country! -
The letter is capital - and I am delighted with the way in which you present me to my Countrymen, as triumphing over the slain - But now I am so sorry about the dinner - Do beg Mrs Smalley[4] to ask me again some day later on - for I am already engaged [p. 2] to dine on that same evening with Madame Du Quaire[5] - whom you met here -
With very many regrets and a thousand thanks & apologies
Always Yours
