33. Rue de Tournon. Paris -
Dear Mr. Kennedy -
I have found the Kitchen, Price's Candle factory - and the first proof of the Traghetto - pulled on old wooden Press in Venice, as you will see marked on back - consequently a tit bit for one of your collectors - If you don't require it, Mr Lauser had better send it back at once -
The Price's Candle is fine and rare - 1st state -
|Kitchen||£6 : 6.|
|Price's Candle Facty.||6 : 8.|
|Traghetto - 1st Proof.||12 : 12|
|27. 6.||minus the 20 percent.|
Also longing to see the Pictures! -
Also I shall be awfully anxious about those proofs we are sending you - to know whether any further outrages [p. 2] are committed by the Customs -
Hoping you had a charming crossing
With kindest regards from both

In Venice in 1880 JW is said to have used an old wooden press for his largest plates, which at the time he found sometimes unsatisfactory, see #03600 and MacDonald, Margaret F., Palaces in the Night Whistler in Venice, Aldershot, 2001, p. 78.
