4.  memorial to H. M. The Queen
During her Jubilee Year, JW sent a Memorial to the Queen requesting that the Society of British Artists be called 'Imperial'. This was then amended to read 'Royal'. The SBA received a Royal Charter, thus becoming the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA).
