Notes:

1.  [c. 17 November 1877]
Dated from sales to Colnaghi (see below).

2.  Charles Augustus Howell
Charles Augustus ('Owl') Howell (1840? - d.1890), entrepreneur [more].

3.  AD
On the verso of this sheet appears a partial letter (#02182).

4.  Com
Howell obtained subscriptions for a prospective set of etchings of Venice. Sales to Colnaghi's, print dealers, on 5 November 1877, are also recorded in #13071. In fact JW did not go to Venice until the end of 1879, when he went with a commission from the Fine Art Society, London dealers, for Mr Whistler's Etchings of Venice, 1880 (the first 'Venice Set') (K. 183-189, 191-195). (excat 5).

5.  Chambers
Not identified. However, it may be connected to Alice Mary ('May') Chambers (1855-after 1918), artist, executrix of C. A. Howell [more].

6.  Mrs Noseda
Mrs Jane Noseda (b. 1813 or 1814), print dealer [more].

7.  C. Court
i.e., 'County Court'.

8.  Chapman Cremorne
Howell arranged for the delivery and possibly the sale of Cremorne (YMSM 168) to Alfred Chapman (1839-1917), engineer and collector [more] (see Howell to JW, #02182, and accounts, #12738).

9.  Sara Bernard
Added in pencil. Possibly a reference to Sarah Bernhardt (1844-1923), née Henrietta Rosine Bernard, actress [more].

10.  Rose Ol
Added in pencil.
