Identity:
John Mackrell was a solicitor in the firm of Mackrell & Co. of Cannon Street.
Life:
Mackrell was sometime Solicitor to the Governments of New Zealand and New South Wales and the man who suggested the institution of Colonial 'Inscribed Stock'. In 1878-79 he was solicitor to Benjamin Ebenezer Nightingale of Albert Works, Lambeth, in a legal dispute with JW over the construction costs of the White House.
